What is the UAE School Games championship?
The UAE School Games is the first multi-sports schools’ competition platform that is conducted with 10 Olympic sports. Students from across Dubai, Northern Emirates and the Eastern Region can compete in their sport of choice while representing their school.
Who can participate?
The program is open to all public and private schools at no cost for participation. The sports are open to boys and girls ages in 3 categories U13, U15, U17.
What are the benefits for student athletes?
The platform is a scouting platform, creating a pipeline of athletes for national clubs and teams. It has been established in partnership with all sports federations who are present at every competition day to discover top talents. The top talents and all winners from the program are invited to high performance training and development programs after the finals.
When is the program running?
The program runs annually on schedule as follows:
Level 1 (intra-school competition): November – December
Level 2 (inter-school competition): January – March
Level 3 (national finals): May
Where is it conducted?
The program runs in Dubai, Northern Emirates and Eastern region at top sports facilities that are easily accessible.
What role will the players’ families have?
Families are a fundamental part of the all-round development of players, and the idea is to have them involved as much as possible in supporting their children. It is important for families to recognize the value that competitive sports can play in their children’s lives. It is also important for families to recognize the possibility of career paths in professional sports and to support their children should they have the levels to pursue professional sports.
How do you approach managing young players’ expectations?
It should be remembered that these programmes are essentially formative. However, due to its special focus on a comprehensive attention to the player, a topic such as the management of expectations is integrated as part of the programme in its psycho-social dimension.
